HEIC file Photos Work on Google Maps Mobile, But Not on Desktop?

I found something interesting when uploading photos to Google Maps from iPhone/iPad and computer. Screenshot 2026-08-23 at 10.54.44 AM1566×1926 514 KB When I take photos with my iPhone or iPad, the photo can be saved as HEIC. If I upload the photo directly from my iPhone/iPad to Google Maps, it works normally. IMG_40331284×1323 185 KB But if I transfer the same HEIC file to my computer and try to upload it from Google Maps on desktop, I get this message: “Some media has an invalid format.” So I am a little confused.
